A virtual open house information meeting was held by City Planning Staff on July 10, 2025

Talking points
Hamiltonians and Hamilton Council have rejected urban boundary expansion and support intensification within existing neighbourhoods
The City of Hamilton’s Growth Strategy is to enable intensification within the existing firm urban boundary
Urban expansion into the Greenbelt and Niagara Escarpment areas should not be permitted under any circumstances
Permitting the construction of more low density housing will not help solve the housing crisis or help with housing affordability
Expanding urban infrastructure onto greenfields will worsen Hamilton’s current $5.2 Billion infrastructure spending gap, and the lifetime costs to maintain, repair and replace new infrastructure will fall to Hamilton taxpayers.
